Mercouri Estate
Mercouri Estate, litteraly on the coast of the province of Eleia is owned by one of the oldest wine making families of Greece. The story begins in 1864 with Theodor Mercouri, an ingenious merchant who's activities stretched all over the general neighbourhood including Greece and Italy. The ktima (estate), produces unique PGI wines uninterruptedly, for alreay five generations. Nowadays the family business is run collectively by the two Kanelakopoulos brothers Bill and Chris and their sons Dimitris and Lambis. Their aim is simply to keep on doing what seems to be a family affair already for more than a century: Creating wines of unique quality and finesse.
Cardinal role in the cultivation and vinification activities of the estate is played by the Greek varieties of Maurodaphne and Roditis.
